General Matters

General matters are billed at Annie’s regular rate of $300/hour.

Family Law

Sorting out family legal matters can be relatively simple, or long and difficult. It’s impossible to tell from the start of a matter how long or complicated it may become. Family matters are billed for work done, at Annie’s regular rate of $300/hour.

Wills and Estate Planning

  • Simple Wills: $850 per person or $1,050 for a couple with mostly identical Wills
  • Simple Powers of Attorney: $145 per document if part of Will planning; $450 if not part of Will planning
  • More complex Estate Planning, Will and Power of Attorney matters will be calculated according to Annie’s hourly rate of $300/hour.

Real Estate

  • Purchase without mortgage: between $1,500 and $3,000, depending on complexity and purchase price. Land Tranfer Tax and expenses are in addition to the legal fees.
  • Purchase with mortgage: between $2,500 and $4,500, depending on complexity and purchase price (please note most “alternate” lenders, such as First National or Computershare, have very lengthy requirements and are very complex). Land Tranfer Tax and expenses are in addition to the legal fees.
  • Uncomplicated Sale: between $1,200 and $3,000, depending on complexity and sale price
  • Mortgage renewals and refinancing: between $1,250.00 and $3,500, depending on complexity and mortgage amount (please note most “alternate” lenders, such as First National or Computershare, have very lengthy requirements and are very complex).
  • Other real estate matters will be charged according to Annie’s hourly rate of $300 per hour. Additional requested searches, such as mining and water rights, will be subject to additional charges.

Please note all prices given do not include disbursements, third party charges, government registration fees, Land Transfer Tax, and HST. Rather, these prices are general estimates. Matters such as construction holdbacks, disputed matrimonial sales, estate sales, and other more complicated issues will have appropriate fees in addition to these general estimated amounts.

Small Business Incorporation, Not-for-Profit Incorporation and Charitable Status

Small Business, Not-For-Profit Incorporations, and Charitable Status Applications can be short or lengthy, and will be billed at Annie’s regular rate unless other arrangements are made.

Notary Public

Annie is available to notarize documents for $35 per copy.

Law Society and other levies, software costs, disbursements, and HST apply to all fees.

NFU farm family members, who are currently actively farming, receive a discount on legal services.

Meetings cancelled with less than 2 business’ days notice will be billed a $50.00 missed meeting/rescheduling fee.
